Marking a Century of Activity
Athanasios Papapostolou founded the eponymous medical and paramedical products company in Thessaloniki. Up until the 1950s, the company was the only one of its kind in Northern Greece. Everything it offered had a single purpose: safeguarding the supreme good of health.
After the 1917 fire, which completely destroyed the business, the tireless entrepreneur Athanasios Papapostolou made a fresh start, this time setting up the company on Egnatia Street, next to the Church of Agios Athanasios, until 1928, when he built the well-known privately owned store. In the basement, a workshop operated where belts, corsets, hernia belts, bras, as well as prosthetic limbs were manufactured.
Nikos Papapostolou expanded the medical division of the family business, specializing in equipping healthcare facilities.
Following the rapid advances in medical technology during the 1960s, PAPAPOSTOLOU expanded its operations to Athens.
The company’s headquarters were moved to a new showroom in Thessaloniki, at Sindrivani Square. For historical reasons and to honor the family tradition, the headquarters remain in Thessaloniki to this day.
All operations in Athens were moved to an ultra-modern, privately owned 2,200 sq.m. building in Neo Psychiko.
PAPAPOSTOLOU was selected as the Official Licensed Provider of Medical Equipment for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organizing Committee (ATHENS 2004 OCOG).
The company held a celebratory event at the Athens Concert Hall to mark its 90th anniversary.
Establishment of a branch in Chania. In addition to its locations in Thessaloniki, Athens, and Chania, the company has a specialized network of partners in Ioannina, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa, and Kozani, ensuring nationwide coverage of its operations.
PAPAPOSTOLOU supported doctors and patients during one of the most challenging periods for our country. Our collaboration with leading international manufacturers enabled us to promptly secure the specialized medical equipment required to combat the pandemic.
