In some clinical cases respiratory motion correlates with tumor motion. The RPM Respiratory Gating System (RPM system) allows you to track respiratory motion and synchronize it with beam exposure during image acquisition and treatment delivery.
The system uses a block with reflective markers that is placed on the patient's chest, and a camera that tracks the movement of the markers. This movement is used as a surrogate for movement of the tumor during respiration.
You can use RPM system to:
- Acquire respiratory-gated images and reference data.
- Plan a respiratory-gated radiation treatment.
- Perform pretreatment verification and deliver respiratory-gated radiation treatment.
