The first Halcyon linear accelerator by Varian Medical Systems in Greece, a new generation, innovative, radiotherapy system, donated by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, was successfully installed and is already operating in 401 General Military Hospital of Athens.

Halcyon operates almost quietly, requires less shielding and significantly less space than other linear accelerators and performs modern radiotherapy techniques with great accuracy, in just 9 steps, treating a large number of patients.

Αs part of the overall renovation and expansion of the radiotherapy department of the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens, the department will also be equipped, by the end of this year, with the Varian ‘s TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, also donated by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The new machine will be capable of applying Stereotactic Radiosurgery & Radiotherapy.
